Your first business does not have to be invented

By Daniel J. Klapper

The myth that keeps good people out of ownership is the garage, the napkin sketch, and years of losing money before you maybe break even. That risk scares capable people away from ownership entirely.

There is another door. You can buy a business that already makes money.

An established business comes with existing customers, trained staff, proven cash flow, and a track record a lender can actually underwrite. SBA financing, seller notes, and creative deal structure let buyers acquire real, income-producing companies, often with far less cash than they expect.

The timing matters. A generation of owners is heading for the exit at the same time, and many of them have no successor. Their children do not want the business. The staff cannot afford it. Healthy, profitable companies will close for no reason other than nobody was there ready to buy. That gap is your opening.

These deals rarely arrive on a listing site with a bow on top. They come from relationships, structure, and knowing how to make the offer that gets a yes. I help buyers find the right business, buy it right, scale it, and eventually sell it for a multiple of what they paid.
